The Humane Society for Southwest Washington is raising money to build a playground for dogs to improve their physical and mental health.

The volunteer-led project, Operation Freedom Forest Makeover , aims to transform the Kathie Malone Canine Enrichment Yard at the Vancouver shelter, 1100 N.E. 192nd Ave.

Volunteer Jennifer Rideout said the money raised will go toward building and installing a variety of enrichment structures, including training platforms with ramps and bridges, a rugged tunnel, pools, a pull-up bar fixture for hanging toys, dig pit, lick and scent wall, walking path, picnic table and covered area.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the GoFundMe had raised $8,155 of its $10,000 goal. The shelter needs a minimum of $10,000 to begin the project.
