Known as the food hall made of shipping containers, Midtown's Detroit Shipping Company is adding a new cuisine this weekend.

Sushi Lounge is a new project debuting Saturday from award-winning veteran chef Genevieve Vang, who operates one of the most popular stalls inside the Detroit Shipping Company, Bangkok 96 Street Food, as well as other ventures. She's teamed up with classically trained chef and Detroit native Jasmine White to lead Sushi Lounge.

White has trained at the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas and worked at Wolfgang Puck restaurants and at Benihana. Most recently, in her hometown, she was the head sushi chef at downtown Detroit's Maru Sushi, which closed a year ago.
