A feud has erupted between a member of Oregon City Council and the executive director of the Oregon Economic Development Foundation, who alleges she has received threats as a result of the clash.

Much of the back-and-forth is posts that have appeared on Facebook.

Rebecca Bennett, who heads the foundation, said Councilman Beth Ackerman has posted comments critical of her on Mrs. Ackerman’s city council Facebook page as well as on the Oregon Ohio Community Neighbors Facebook page.

Ms. Bennett alleges that Mrs. Ackerman has also made comments against her through a fake Facebook profile named Jeremy Hawkins.

“Her comments have triggered threats sent directly to me, saying ‘Payback is coming.’ That is exactly what happens when an official uses her position recklessly,” Ms. Bennett said.
