ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Thursday marks the one year anniversary of the shooting at Apalachee High School that killed two students and two teachers while injuring several others.

The community is taking time to reflect, but it is not a happy anniversary.

“I’m dreading it. It’s like, a really big thing that’s like, heavy on my heart,” said Zoe Gray, an Apalachee High School senior who is now taking classes virtually.

The theme of the day is prevailing love.

Gray remembered the gruesome scene and trying to escape the day’s tragedy.

“It’s just not something you want to ever have to accept,” she said.

Her dad Steve Gray said, “I don’t want them to live in fear for their life, but at the same time, like, you know, I don’t want it to just be forgotten.”
