HAWTHORNE – A 32-year-old man who was discovered unresponsive on an embankment off the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway in Hawthorne was identified Tuesday.

The man was found at about 6 p.m. Sunday on Hawthorne Boulevard near an on-ramp,

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified him as Jesse Ortiz Salvador.

His cause of death is deferred.

Travelers along the 105 Freeway have noticed a significant uptick in the number of homeless encampments along the stretch between the 110 and 405 Freeways despite the construction taking place.

Last May, California awarded Los Angeles County’s Homeless Initiative a $51.5-million grant aimed at helping homeless people along the 105 Freeway and nearby riverbeds access housing and services over the next three years.
