Assault by choking

A man who allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend and wouldn’t let her leave her home was arrested on Monday.

Police received a report of an assault on Braecrest Drive on Sunday and went to the residence.

The man allegedly forced his way inside and assaulted the woman, police said in a news release.

Police said he blocked the doorway and threatened her — preventing her from leaving — but the woman was eventually able to run away.

Police searched the home, but the suspect had already fled.

On Monday, officers went back to the residence since they believed he may be inside. After searching the home, they found a man hiding in a bathroom closet, police said.

The 38-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault, assault by choking and forcible confinement.
