Wetherspoon has banned Scottish £20 and £50 notes throughout its English establishments – leaving some patrons denied service as a consequence. One elderly customer claims he was left mortified after attempting to pay with cash at two Newcastle venues.
Craig Neil, 72, from Troon, Ayrshire, had visited the Mile Castle pub and the neighbouring Keel Row bar. He told The Scottish Sun: "They poured a pint of Carling and I handed over a £20 note. They told me they don't accept Scottish money.
