ANN ARBOR – Michigan linebacker Jaishawn Barham won’t be on the field for the first half of Saturday’s game against No. 18 Oklahoma, but he will be on the minds of his teammates.

The multi-year starter was ejected for targeting after a helmet-to-helmet hit against New Mexico quarterback Jack Layne in the third quarter of Saturday’s 34-17 season-opening win. Per NCAA rules for targeting, Barham will be suspended for the first half of the following game, which is a top-20 showdown against the Sooners. Michigan and the Big Ten appealed the suspension, but the NCAA upheld it.

“We know how bad he wants to be out there for us, and he knows how bad we want him out there with us, so we gonna play for him, for sure,” Michigan senior edge TJ Guy said Tuesday.
