Baltimore Inspector General Isabel Mercedes Cumming last month tweeted in support of sanitation worker Stancil McNair, who subsequently won election as president of AFSCME Local 44 which represents employees of the city’s Department of Public Works ( “Insurgent says he won AFSCME Local 44 presidency after grassroots campaign for better pay and working conditions,” Aug. 23). Prior to this social media post, Cumming issued a report severely criticizing the workplace conditions for DPW employees.
