China’s once-a-decade military parade marking the end of World War II showed off an array of new weapons — including, for the first time, large autonomous sea vehicles. Xi Jinping led the event in Beijing, joined by Russia's Vladimir Putin and North Korea's Kim Jong Un. China also showcased other new systems, including the JL-3 submarine-launched ballistic missile, the YJ-21 hypersonic anti-ship ballistic missile, and a directed-energy weapon, highlighting its growing military capabilities.
