HETTINGER, N.D. — It’s a new era of volleyball for the Hettinger-Scranton Nighthawks. They lost five starters over the offseason and only have one varsity returner from last season. After Saturday’s Killdeer Mountain Invitational, the Nighthawks had their first chance at competing in a regular season match against the Lemmon Cowgirls.

The Nighthawks were ultimately swept (16-25, 23-25, 18-25), but kept matters close in the first two sets. Unfortunately, the team took their foot off the gas in the third which ultimately led to their defeat. There were multiple attack and service errors and the Nighthawks found themselves out of system in the final frame.
