From Fort Selkirk, where his ancestors lived and moved for thousands of years, Mayo-Tatchun MLA Jeremy Harper made it official: he will be running for re-election as member of the Yukon Legislative Assembly in the looming territorial elections.

Harper, who served in his first term as speaker of the Yukon Legislative Assembly, announced his run for re-election on the Yukon Liberal Party team in a video he posted to Facebook on Sept. 2.

He identifies as Northern and Southern Tutchone and a member of the Selkirk First Nation and the Wolf Clan.

His home is in Pelly Crossing.

Harper didn't mention he chairs the Members' Services Board, an all-party committee of MLAs.

Prior to getting voted to the legislature in 2021, Harper worked two decades for his self-governing First Nation.
