The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday evening’s drawing surged to $1.4 billion, the fourth-largest prize in the game’s history.
Game officials increased the jackpot estimate Wednesday morning after reviewing national ticket sales. The prize carries an estimated cash value of $634.3 million.
“Tonight could be the night this billion-dollar Powerball jackpot is won,” Matt Strawn, Powerball Product Group Chair, said in a statement. “Players are excited to take another shot at this growing jackpot, but we encourage everyone to play responsibly.”
There hasn’t been a drawing with a grand prize winner since May 31, when a ticket worth $207 million was sold at a convenience store in Arleta.
