Five people were injured, including two children, when a school bus and a car collided Tuesday afternoon in Bethlehem Township.
Township Police Chief Gregory J. Gottschall told lehighvalleylive.com the accident happened just after 4:30 p.m. at Freemansburg Avenue and Washington Street.
Gottschall said the car driver was stopped in the westbound lane at the intersection and waiting to make a left turn to head south onto Washington Street. The school bus, the chief said, was headed west on Freemansburg Avenue, approaching the intersection.
The bus rear-ended the stopped car that was waiting to make the left turn, he said.
The bus belonged to Colonial Intermediate Unit 20, which transports special needs students to local school districts throughout the region.
