OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The man accused of shooting Creighton Baseball Director Chris Gradoville to death in 2021 was sentenced on an unrelated charge Wednesday.
Ladell Thornton was sentenced to 47-50 years in prison on a charge of possession of a gun by a prohibited person, with 1,324 days credit. He entered a no-contest plea for the charge months before the homicide occurred .
He will appear in court next on August 3, 2026.
In May , Thornton was found not responsible in Gradoville’s death by reason of insanity on all counts, including first-degree murder, use of a firearm to commit a felony, and possession of a gun by a prohibited person.
The sentencing ended a short bench trial , where a judge was the sole decision-maker. The judge ordered Thornton to remain in the Lincoln Reg
