SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- Park-goers at Jacobson Plaza will soon be able to hit the rink thanks to a large skate donation coming this coming fall season.
The skates were donated from the parks namesake, the Jacobson family. Currently, skaters need to bring their own skates to use the ribbon. Folks can still bring their own skates, but the city wanted to bring skates to encourage more use of the park.
"Summer time skating has always been on our radar, but with the immediate success we've realized, we thought, why not now?" Brett Kollars, assistant director of the city's parks and recreation said.
There will be over 300 pairs of skates in all sizes for kids and adults. That includes roller skates, roller blades and ice skates.
