That bootleg stream you’ve been using to watch sports likely just went away.
The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment, the world’s leading anti-piracy coalition, announced Tuesday that notorious piracy network, Streameast, has been shut down.
The announcement was made in conjunction with authorities in Egypt, who raided Streameast offices and seized three laptops and four smartphones used to operate the sites, as well as 10 Visa cards that had about $123,000 on them, as well as about $200,000 in crypto wallets.
Two Egyptian citizens were arrested as part of the raid, according to the New York Times.
Through its 80 associated domains, the network logged more than 1.6 billion visits in the past year, making it the largest illicit live sports streaming operation in the world.
