KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Chiefs will be without one of their rookies when they suit up Friday night on international soil.

The Chiefs announced Wednesday that wide receiver Jalen Royals, the team’s fourth-round pick, did not travel with the rest of the roster to Sao Paulo, Brazil. Royals will miss the Week 1 contest due to a knee injury after he’s been dealing with knee tendinitis for several weeks.

Royals was drafted 133rd overall in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Utah State. During his final season as an Aggie, he totaled 55 receptions for 834 yards and 6 touchdowns in just seven games. He missed time due to a foot injury that cut his season short.
