WALLACEBURG – Today’s cellphones not only tell time, they also provide directions, access to information worldwide and take photos, but that technology has done little to keep Steckelbos Watch and Clock Repairs from thriving.

The Wallaceburg business, which began 70 years ago on the front porch of the Dufferin Avenue home of the late Harry Stekelbos, continues to tick along thanks to the skills of certified watchmaker Dick Bulsink, who bought the business after immigrating to Canada from the Netherlands in 1982.

Bulsink’s skill in repairing and restoring watches and clocks is in such demand, there is a seven-month waiting list with customers coming from across the region due mainly to word-of-mouth advertising.
