The East Baton Rouge Parish school system is asking for financial help in order to buy new uniforms for high school marching bands across the parish.
Many of the 11 high schools in the parish school district with marching bands have old uniforms, some decades old. The marching bands at Glen Oaks and Liberty high schools currently don't have uniforms.
Outfitting a band with new uniforms costs between $35,000 and $45,000, a big lift for a school-level or club-level fundraiser.
So the parish school system is elevating it to a districtwide effort, which it’s calling Band Together EBR . The new fundraising campaign is being organized by the Foundation for the East Baton Rouge School System, the district’s philanthropic arm.
