A driver who was ejected from his vehicle suffered moderate injuries Wednesday in a three-vehicle crash on State Route 86 in Coachella.
The crash was reported around 7:36 a.m. Wednesday north of 50th Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A blue Chevrolet Silverado traveling in the No. 1 lane struck the rear of a Toyota pickup, then continued forward and hit a big rig in the No. 2 lane, causing the Chevrolet to overturn, CHP said.
The Silverado sustained major damage, and its driver — who was not wearing a seat belt — was ejected, the agency said.
It was unclear whether the other motorists were injured.
A temporary lane closure was lifted about an hour later.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
