A 170-acre residential development in northeast Loveland is one step closer to breaking ground, after the City Council on Tuesday gave its okay to a series of metropolitan districts to help finance it. By a vote of 7 to 1, members approved the request from the developers of Sugar Creek, which is poised to bring more than 1,000 new housing units to the city.
“I’m glad that you stuck with us and came back, because at the end of the day, this is the way that we can get some more development into the city, and actually bring in what everyone’s been talking about — affordable housing, ” said Councilor Dana Foley, referring to the city’s 18-month moratorium on metro districts, which was lifted in June.
