A newspaper delivery driver saved a Berthoud couple from a house fire that was taking over the rear of their home around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday while on her regular route.
“That’s when I saw all the flames … I (had) to do something,” said delivery driver Amanda Pierce as she retold the story. “I threw my car in park, and I just grabbed my phone and unplugged it, and I jumped out of the car, dialed 911.”
The Berthoud Fire Protection District, Loveland Fire Rescue Authority and Thompson Valley EMS responded to the fire at 3425 Heron Lakes Parkway after receiving a 911 call from a passing motorist, according to previous reporting. The fire burned most of the back side of the home and attic.
