Los Tucanes De Tijuana win big with its first No. 1 in 20 years on Billboard‘s Regional Mexican Airplay chart, as “Mi Ex,” with Grupo Firme, leaps 14-1 on the list (dated Sept. 6). Originally released by Los Tucanes in 2002, the revamped live hit marks the group’s return to the top spot for the first time since 2005.
“Mi Ex,” released via Music VIP, soars to the top of the chart, leaping from No. 14, with 7 million audience impressions earned in the United States during the tracking week ending Aug. 28, according to Luminate. That’s an 80% growth compared to the previous week. Driving its boost are five supporters: KEBT in Bakersfield, Calif., KHOT and KNAI in Phoenix, KSEA in Monterey-Salinas, Calif., and KYLI in Las Vegas.
