When Shane Fernandez was a kid growing up in the Hollywood Hills of Southern California, he spent a lot of time on his bicycle. First it was a BMX bike, then a mountain bike, then a motocross bike and, finally, on to a street bike.

It’s been his thing his whole life. And now that passion is taking him to the 2028 Summer Olympics, which, by chance, will be in his old stomping grounds of Los Angeles.

Fernandez, CEO of ABA Ethos and president of USA BMX, said Tuesday that Ethos has been selected to represent The City of Industry east of Los Angeles in managing the design, construction and event coordination of the Olympic mountain bike course.
