DETROIT -- Two players on rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo could be nearing a return to the Detroit Tigers.
Outfielder Parker Meadows will play in his sixth game for the Mud Hens on Wednesday. Then Detroit will decide whether to bring him back for this weekend’s series against the White Sox or give him more time on rehab.
Right-hander José Urquidy threw three scoreless innings Tuesday night for Toledo. Manager A.J. Hinch said he will pitch at least once more for the Mud Hens by the end of the weekend, “and then we’ll continue to make series-by-series decisions.”
Meadows, 25, missed the first two months of the season after suffering a nerve injury in spring training. He struggled offensively after his return, hitting .200 with a .566 OPS (59 OPS+) in 137 plate appearances. He has be
