The hunt is on for a man suspected of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from a bride and groom as they celebrated their new marriage.

The unidentified man entered the Renaissance Banquet Hall in Glendale, Calif., after midnight on Sunday, went to the ballroom of the wedding reception, grabbed a gift box and took off, witnesses told the Glendale Police Department.

He was captured on security cameras fleeing the venue in a Mercedes SUV that appeared to have been waiting for him, police said in a news release .

The suspect is described as a male, about 40 years old, with an olive or white complexion, a bald head and a medium build, cops said.

The victims reported that the stolen box contained between (US)$80,000 and (US)$100,000 in cash and cheques gifted by wedding guests.
