FOXBOROUGH - Patriots coach Mike Vrabel wouldn’t rule out Christian Gonzalez for Sunday’s game.

The All-Pro cornerback’s continued absence from practice, however, tells a different story.

During his press availability Wednesday, Vrabel did his best to put a positive spin on Gonzalez, who hasn’t practiced since suffering a hamstring injury July 28.

But the fact that Gonzalez remains out doesn’t paint the best picture for his availability in the season opener against the Las Vegas Raiders.

“We’ll continue to work and treat and do everything we can to help him to get back out on the field,” Vrabel said. “But he’s doing everything he can to get back out on the field. That’s the only update I have right now.”
