A deputy with the Pershing County Sheriff's Office was told by a festivalgoer that there was a person "lying in a pool of blood around 9:14 p.m. Aug. 30, during the burning of the iconic wooden effigy.
After learning about the man, deputies and rangers with the Bureau of Land Management set up a heavy law enforcement perimeter around the area.
The sheriff's office said the body was taken to the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office, and he was later identified as Kruglov.
