BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Good afternoon!

The Next 24 Hour: Under variably cloudy to partly cloudy skies, temperatures should climb into mid-to-upper 80s this afternoon, with a few areas possibly reaching near 90.

A shortwave passing to our north through the Ohio Valley could help spark a few showers and storms, mainly across western and northern counties. Coverage looks limited, so we’ve held rain chances near 20%.

Thursday should be a bit warmer, with highs reaching the upper 80s to near 90 in more places. Another shortwave moving across the Midwest and Ohio Valley should increase rain chances some, especially for northern and northeastern counties during the day.
