While the Government of Yukon and the Municipality of Skagway have taken a “very critical step” forward on the ore dock project in Skagway, Alaska, whoever forms the next Yukon government will have the final say on the project, according to Economic Development Minister Ranj Pillai.
That includes decisions around how the overall project is financed. That’s if the next Yukon government plans to continue on with paying for an ore dock, also known as a marine services platform, to get prospective mining companies in the Yukon access to tidewater at the Port of Skagway, Pillai said.
