ARGYLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Community members in Argyle and beyond, are coming together to help families after 21 dogs were found dead at Anastasia's Acres Dog Boarding Facility.

Shay DeRusso has spent the last six nights painting away. For her, art is part of her everyday life. But DeRusso isn't just painting leisurely this time -- she's painting portraits for each dog that died at Anastasia's Acres Dog Boarding Facility on Aug. 24.

"Oh, it was super emotional," said DeRusso. "You know you're doing a good thing but it's also extremely hard to do."

On Tuesday night, DeRusso finished her first round of about 13 paintings. After NEWS10's last story, community members donated close to $1,000 to DeRusso for her art supplies.
