CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Nearly a year after Hurricane Helene battered North Carolina , the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced a new round of federal support to help communities rebuild and prepare for future storms. The agency is providing $337 million to strengthen water infrastructure and support solid waste recovery across the state.

The largest share of the funding—$276 million in supplemental appropriation funds under Title VI of the Clean Water Act—will be used to improve water system resiliency. EPA officials said these dollars will help North Carolina complete projects that increase the ability of drinking water and wastewater systems to withstand severe weather.
