KEARNEY, Neb. (KNOP) - A former Gothenburg physician was among the two men killed in a plane crash near Kearney last week.

According to a statement from Gothenburg Health, Dr. Mark Meyer, 77, “was a beloved orthopedic surgeon who served Gothenburg Memorial Hospital for many years.”

“Dr. Meyer was a cornerstone of our medical community during a time when visiting specialists were few and far between,” said registered nurse Deb Hecox. “His dedication ensured that our patients received expert care close to home. Though he last practiced here over a decade ago, his impact continues to be felt by the many patients whose lives he touched.”
