San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman has received a one-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for pushing Kyle Freeland of the Colorado Rockies during the on-field incident in the top of the first inning of Tuesday night’s game at Coors Field in Denver, Major League Baseball announced today. Michael Hill, MLB’s Senior Vice President for On-Field Operations, made the announcement.
The suspension of Chapman had been scheduled to begin tonight, when the Giants and the Rockies are to continue their series in Colorado. However, Chapman has elected to appeal. Thus, the discipline will be held in abeyance until that process is complete.
In addition, fines have been issued to Freeland as well as Willy Adames and Rafael Devers of the Giants as a result of their inappropriate action
