PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Gov. Dan McKee is hoping to meet with President Trump one-on-one to lobby his administration to end its stop-work order halting the Revolution Wind offshore energy project, but so far the White House is showing no interest in the idea.

McKee's office released a letter Wednesday that the governor sent to U.S. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, following up on a phone conversation the two had last week about the stop-work order issued Aug. 22 that has halted construction on the 704-megawatt wind farm off Rhode Island's coast.

During a live interview on Wednesday's 12 News at 4, McKee said he knew Burgum as a former fellow governor -- of North Dakota -- and emphasized the project's impact on jobs and energy costs. The project was expected to power over 350,000 homes
