ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Several portraits were put on display at Rockford's city hall to honor Hispanic leaders during Hispanic Heritage Month.

In total, there are 20 different portraits, and visitors are invited to view the portraits and even add their own artistic flair to the works of art.

"Our main goal with this is to recognize Hispanic leaders in our community that are doing really, really big things to make Rockford a better place," explained Haley Galarza, the executive coordinator to Mayor McNamara. "Just giving them that small recognition"

All of the portraits have black and white outlines, in hopes that patrons will color the borders.

Local artist Victor Rivera created all of the artwork while collaborating with SOMOS City of Rockford.
