LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- The Las Vegas City Council will appoint an interim councilmember to fill the remainder of former Councilwoman Victoria Seaman's term following her resignation to take a federal position.

Seaman, a Republican, is going to work for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Intergovernmental & External Affairs. She will be the director of the Denver Regional Office.

Seaman served six years as a Las Vegas city councilwoman for Ward 2. Her council term was due to end in 2026.

Now, the council seeks to appoint an interim Ward 2 Councilmember. The term will run through either July or December 2026, depending on the 2026 primary election.

Applicants must live in Ward 2 and be a qualified elector, meaning registered or eligible to vote. They must also agree
