A Kentucky State Police detective testified there was no known relationship between the daughter of former Letcher County Sheriff Shawn "Mickey" Stines and slain District Judge Kevin Mullins.

The 2024 grand jury testimony from Kentucky State Police Detective Clayton Stamper was included in court documents briefly made public Sept. 3.

While Stines called his daughter from his own phone and from the judge's phone before the shooting, according to KSP, Stines' family denied any other contact.

A detective said he was told the Eastern Kentucky judge shot and killed by the county's sheriff in 2024 had no relationship with the accused shooter's teenage daughter, according to a grand jury testimony transcript that was briefly released to the public.
