PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - The former CFO of the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission was sentenced to eight months in prison on Wednesday for stealing money from a PSMFC account for employee health care benefits, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office - District of Oregon.
On June 5, 67-year-old Pamela J. Kahut of Wilsonville pleaded guilty to Theft in Connection with Health Care after investigators said she took about $211,083 from PSMFC’s health benefit trust account. The account is set up to pay benefits, fees, and other charges for PSFMC employees covered under its self-funded health care benefit program.
Kahut has also been ordered to pay $211,083.27 in restitution to PSMFC, a $10,000 fine, and will serve three years of probation after she is released from federal prison.
