AUSTIN, Texas — The current special legislative session at the Texas Capitol could end as soon as Wednesday evening.

Lt. Governor Dan Patrick has signaled his intention to wrap up work in the Senate by mid-week. With the end in sight, it is a mad dash at the Texas Capitol to get as much as possible done and avoid another special session.

Gov. Greg Abbott put 24 items on the agenda. So far, lawmakers have sent bills on 12 of these topics to the Governor's desk, including congressional redistricting, flood warning sirens and ivermectin sales.

Both the Texas House of Representatives and Texas Senate are slated to gavel in at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

On what House and Senate leaders had hoped would be the final day of session, they are dealing with some unforeseen hiccups.
