WACO, Texas — Locals gathered to protest Governor Greg Abbott's visit to Waco , voicing concerns about state policies on education, healthcare, and immigration.
"Their policies are deeply unpopular," Bruce Allen, a volunteer and coordinator said. "They're actually unamerican and undemocratic."
Demonstrators assembled outside of McLane Stadium during Abbott's state of the state address inside the stadium at the Baylor Club. The protest was organized by Indivisible Waco, the McLennan County Democratic Party, Waco Friends of the Climate, Baylor Democrats, and others.
“He’s here to raise money for the chamber of commerce and do republican spin and a fancy luncheon, we would like them to have conversations with the everyday working citizens," Allen said.
