SHREVEPORT, La. -- A week after Gov. Jeff Landry praised the Caddo Parish District Attorney's Office for its crime-fighting efforts, Landry is now seemingly welcoming the National Guard's presence in the state, including in Shreveport, in response to a comment from President Donald Trump.

"We're going to go to maybe Louisiana ... and New Orleans that has a crime problem. We'll straighten it out in two weeks," Trump said today in a news conference when asked about sending National Guard troops to other U.S. Cities.

He added: "Do we go to Chicago or do we go to a place like New Orleans where we have a great governor, who wants us to come in and straighten it out?"

Landry responded on "X," saying, "We will take President Trump's help from New Orleans to Shreveport."
