OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen’s plan to turn a work ethic camp in McCook into an ICE detention facility is getting some pushback.

A Legislative committee plans to hold a hearing to discuss potential building code issues in the proposed makeover.

A group of about a dozen state senators also have questions about the governor’s decision.

One man is sitting alone, hoping to call attention to a plan he says shows a lack of compassion.

Paul Feilmann sits alone because earlier this year, Douglas County Commissioner Roger Garcia was forced to stand up.

“My community is being terrorized by immigration raids. At this moment, as we speak, there’s word of at least two raids happening at this moment. I have to go try and help, sorry,” Garcia said in June .
