Florida football coach Billy Napier provided an update on standout defensive lineman Caleb Banks heading into UF's second game of the season on Sept. 6 against USF (4:15 p.m., SEC Network).

"Caleb is doing well," Napier said. "He's kind of hit the next step, so he's really close. We'll see where he's at this weekend and next week as well."

The 6-foot-6, 330-pound Banks, a preseason All-SEC defensive lineman and projected first round draft pick in next April's NFL Draft, suffered a lower leg injury during fall camp and sat out the Florida Gators season opener against LIU. He provided consistent pressure as an interior pass rusher in 2024 with seven tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.
