An elderly woman died and two firefighters were injured Wednesday night in a blaze inside a 35-story apartment building in Harlem, FDNY officials said.

Some 78 firefighters and EMS personnel rushed to the building on East 122nd St. and 2nd Ave . at 6:59 p.m., where a fire had erupted on the 19th floor — and began evacuating the building, according to the FDNY.

When first responders gained entry to one apartment on that floor, they found a 72-year-old woman, officials said. EMS transported the injured woman to Metropolitan Hospital , where she died of her injuries.

The woman was not immediately identified; police said they were working to locate her family.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries to the face and another firefighter suffered smoke inhalation while battling the flames
