LANSING, Iowa (KCRG) - Jennetta Ely owns Red Barn Campground and Restaurant just outside Lansing.

A big chunk of her customers make the commute from Wisconsin.

“I would say about 30 to 40 percent,” Ely said.

The Iowa and Wisconsin Department of Transportations both say the Mississippi River Bridge isn’t safe, so it’ll have to come down.

The problem is the replacement won’t be built for another two years. Meaning businesses in Lansing are set to lose a significant portion of their customer base.

“We are prepping on ways to continue to build that, but also bring it from other areas. Cause we need everybody to come to Lansing now to help overcome that and build us up,”
