BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Every September, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank joins Feeding America in dedicating the month to raising awareness about hunger.
“They don’t realize that they may be going to church with someone who’s receiving assistance from us,” said Food Bank CEO Mike Manning. “It’s really important that we take care of people because that’s our neighbor.”
This year, Manning said all donations will be matched up to $75,000 by the Price LeBlanc family.
“People raising awareness and trying to help raise more funds by putting up their own money and issuing a challenge to others, it really tends to significantly increase the fundraising we can generate and make a big difference in our ability to feed the community,” Manning said.
