JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The NAACP has sued Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe for calling a special session of the legislature to redraw Congressional district lines.
The lawsuit was filed in Cole County, Mo. Wednesday and alleges that Kehoe overstepped his authority in calling the special session.
The session opened on Wednesday as Republicans hope to redraw the Congressional district lines to eliminate a safe Democratic seat based in Kansas City and divide the Kansas City area between two districts.
The current Missouri Congressional delegation has six Republicans and two Democrats. Under a proposed map , the borders of the St. Louis-area Congressional districts would change, but not in a way that would change their partisan make up, with the contours of the First District
