LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - LMPD leadership addressed ongoing issues across the Metro and the country caused by a social media challenge.

The ‘door kick’ challenge involves kids going up to homes and, instead of ringing the doorbell or knocking, kicking and banging on the doors, and in some cases, leaving damage.

“That’s just stupid. Don’t kick a door in,” LMPD Chief Paul Humphrey said. “That’s not a game. You just crossed a line.”

What used to be a relatively harmless prank of ding-dong ditching has been twisted into something violent and potentially dangerous.

Officials want kids and their parents to know this is not something to take lightly.
